In the new ship for the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, Ltd., under construction by Swan, Hunter, and Wigham Richardson, Ltd., the navigational equipment will include a Sperry gyro compass, Mark VIII. It will consist of the usual master compass, together with repeaters for steering, for taking bearings, and for use in conjunction with the directional wireless, the eqiffpment in fact being identical with that supplied previously to the Port Fairy and Port Alma.
