AEROPLANE DAMAGED.
PASSENGERS AND PILOT ESCAPE INJURY. U'BF.SS ASSOCIATION T*LEGB.U£.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 12. Damage to the undercarriage and bottom of the fuselage of a Desoutter cabin monoplane piloted by Mr S. Blackmore,' of Hamilton, was caused when a- landing was made at the New Plymouth aerodrome after dark to-night. Two passengers, Mr and Mrs F. Clarke, of Te Aroha, and the pilot, escaped injury. The passengers were flying to attend a wedding, and arrived at the ceremony only a quarter of an hour late. The monoplane left the Waikato at 4.30 and arrived at 5.45." The aerodrome staff had been advised to have flares set, indicating the landing direction. Mr Blackmore landed at an angle and carried on too far. The machine taxied through a boundary fence, where the damage was caused.
