TRAMWAY EMPLOYEES' UNION.
♦ PROPOSALS FOR NEW AGREEMENT. The annual meeting of the Christchurch Tramway Employees' Union was held on Tuesday. Officers were elected as follows: — President, Mr J. Wilson; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. Webb and A. C. L. Brown; secretary, Mr T. W. Smith. A strong committee was set up. The union's proposals for a new agreement, to replace the existing one, which expires on July 18, were ratified and the secretary was instructed to write to the Tramway Board stating that the union was prepared to meet the board's representatives to discuss the matter. The union is suggesting certain alterations in existing conditions, and is asking for increased wages. The union's delegates at any conference with the board Will be the president, the secretary, and Messrs N. R. Forbes, J. Webb, and R. Israelson, and the job delegates of each department.
