Scots lovers now scorn superstition. The registrar of a thickly-populated district stated that, according to statistics returned for the years 1897 to 1902, only seven couples had been married during the month of May. In one week in May this year more than 100 couples were married in the various churches and marriage offices in Edinburgh.
