When the steamer Tees was at Owenga, Chatham Islands, at the end of last week, those on board were shown a large log, measuring about 30 feet by 3ft in diameter which had drifted on to the beach there. The log was of red pine, and had evidently drifted from New Zealand. It was riddled with worm holes and heavily encrusted with barnacles, showing that it had been drifting for some years, a constant danger to navigation during that time.
