CITRUS FRUITS.
REQUEST THAT EMBARGO BE LIFTED. A copy of the resolution arrived at by the public meeting on Sunday, asking for the immediate removal of the embargo on the importation of citrus fruits from Australia, was forwarded to the Acting-Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, and yesterday Dr. H. T. J. Thacker received the following telegram from Mr Coates:— "Dr. Thacker, Christchurch. Your telegram received, and terms of resolution adopted at recent meeting have been noted. Matter referred to is under continuous discussion. J. G. Coates." Dr. Thacker told a reporter that he thought that the telegram from Mr Coates indicated that there would be a temporary lifting of the embargo, either wholly or in part.
