GRASSHOPPER PLAGUE IN CANADA.
SUN OBSCURED. DAMAGE TO CROPS. (Received July 9, 5.5 p.m.) REGINA, July 3. Grasshoppers, so thick that they obscured the sun, caused Southern Saskatchewan to turn on the lights at midday. The pests attacked the crops in the southern area in swarms, and arc moving in clouds towards the north-west. It is impossible to estimate the damage.
