The body of Harry Gray, two-year-old native son of Mr Dan Gray, of W.i i rau pa. who has been missing since June 6, was recovered from the Wairau river last night. WOMAN DROWNED. CARRIED AWAY IN SURF. irr.r.Hs association tei.f.gram.) WHANGARET. July 3. A fatal drowning accident occurred at Maunganui Bluff, 50 miles from Kaitaia, on Saturday evening. Mr and Mrs Powell, with another woman, and the latter's child, all of Takahue. were on a short camping visit. As Mr and Mrs Powell were walking across a depression a sudden high wave swept in and overwhelmed them. Mr Powell managed to cling to some rocks, but Mrs Powell was carried away in the boiling surf. No trace of her could be discovered, despite protracted searches. Mrs Powell leaves four young children. Her parents live in the Waikato district.
