CANTERBURY POTATOES.

to tiik, K.orrori or the press Sir, —In reply to your correLpondent, Mr' Stead, regarding Canterbury potatoes I hasten to assure him that he can still get as good potatoes in Canterbury to-day, or any other part of New Zealand, for that matter, as he ever got. Surely it must be a lack ox knowledge 011 his part to condemn , all the Canterbury growers for the sins of a few of the more unscrupulous growers and traders. If Mr Stead wants further proof of this I would refer him to the fields division of the Department of Agriculture, and here he would see the very fine work that is being carried out in conjunction with the growers both here and at Massey College, at Palmerston North, in improving the quality and productiveness of many of the varieties grown.—Yours, etc., J. BURROWES. Mount Hutt Rural, Rakaia, July 2, 1933.
