OBITUARY.

MR T. J. MALONE. The death has occurred of Mr T. J. Malone, who will be rememb o, -<" :! as one of the most successful bowlers in Canterbury cricket about 30 years ago. Mr Malone, who was a spin bowler, breaking the ball either way, played cricket for Sydenham, West Christchurch, and the old Addington clubs. In 1895 he first represented Canterbury In its match against Otago, and in Otago's first innings took seven wickets for 30 runs. Ten years later he was chosen to play for New Zealand against the Melbourne Cricket Club team, which toured New Zealand, and in that match took seven wickets for 64 runs. He retired from cricket in 1908. For more than 30 years Mr Malone, who was 57 years of age, worked for P. and D. Duncan, Ltd., and was on the staff of that firm when he died. He leaves a widow and a family of three girls and one boy.
