Lady Clayton, widow of Sir Robert Clayton East Clayton, the explorer, left Hanworth Aerodrome recently on the first stage of a search by aeroplane for the "lost" oasis, Zerzura, in the Libyan Desert. Her reserve pilot is Lieut.Commander Raundall. Sir Robert made an unsuccessful attempt to find the "lost" oasis last year shortly after his marriage. He made the journey by aeroplane and motor-car, but returned without reaching his goal. He died later in the year from a form of paralysis, caused, it was believed, by a germ picked up in the desert, where he suffered great hardship and was lost for several days.
