CHRISTCHURCH CENTRE. The Christchurch Centre of the New Zealand Bowling Association met last evening, Mr C. J. Morrison presiding. A letter of thanks for a donation from the centre was received from the Young Women's Christian Association. It was decided to take out an insurance policy, against burglary, on the centre's trophies. Permission was granted the Papanui Club to hold a tournament to-day. The Dunedin Bowling Centre wrote thanking the centre for the generous hospitality shown the visiting Otago representative team. EDGEWARE CLUB. Beautiful weather favoured the E'dgowarc Bowling Club for its closing day on Saturday. A full green was used and fine play was witnessed. Rink games were played, which resulted aa follows: —Baker 21, J. Johnston 12; Henry 22, Chatfield 16; C. Johnston 27, Lorimor 18; Hay ward 18, Efford 14; Goodwin 2d, Collins 13. In the semi-final of the Simes Cup, Jones 18 beat Earwaker 14. In the final, Logie, Chidgoy, Lowther, Jones 22 beat McCullough, Gilbert Sustins, East 16. In tho final of the Dent doubles, Emmctt?.nd West 1G boat Guntrip and Jackson 14. The following are the results of U.c clul> competitions for the season: Champion Singles—W. Efford. Emuu;:'., H. J. West (skip). Rose Bowl Competition—W. G. Ca-.1. LINWOOD CLUB. Closing week was a busy pp'-iod. On Tuesday evening, Mr T. X. Horsley, an old and esteemed member, entertained his fellow niembera in the pavilion with moving pictures taken by him in the courßo of hia travels. Tho pictures were thoroughly enjojed and those taken on the club's green caused a good deal of amusement. While tho films were beinu changed, songs were given by Madame Lcighton and Messrs Maraton, Gibson, MacLachlan, and it. C. Wilson. Supper followed, and a vote of thanks, carried with musical honours,, brought to a close a very pleasant eveninjr. Before the showing of the pictures, Mr Rowntree, vice-president, referred to the loss the club had suffered through the death of Mr C. W. Iggo, and Bpoke of the many sterling qualities which had endeared Mr Iggo to his fellow bowlers. On Thursday an open mixed link tournament was held. Twenty rinks entered and seven clubs were represented. Though the weither was not idoal, the competitors thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Five games of ono hour each were played. Three rinka —Mrs Crawford, Mra May, Robson, Xoullet (s); Mrs Laws, Mrs Hennessy, Edwards, Martin (s); Mra W. Rowntree, Mrs W. H. Smith, W. Rowntree, Kernhaw (s)—secured four wins each. Kershaw drew the bye, and the team skipped by ToulJel beat Martin and then Kershaw. Or. Saturday, closing day, rinka representing the president (Mr G. Dickson) played rinka representing the vice-president (Mr W. W. Rowntree). Twenty-five heads wera played, and each member of the rink skipped the rink for fivo heads, while the first skip controlled tho extra four heads. The president's rinks won with a score of 221 to 197. In the evening a social was held. The first part of tho programme was flag 500, | after which the prizes won in the various j club croquet and bowling competitions were preecntod by Mr C. J. Morrison, president of the Christchurch Bowling Centre, who, with Mtb Morrison ar.d Mrs Oakcy and Mr Oakey, secretary to tho centre, were present. The honours board presented to (he ladies' bowling section by Mrs Orett was unveiled. Mr Morrison gave a short address on the advent of women into bowls, after which Mrs Grett unveiled the boa id. Supper provided by Mr F. 11. Gibson followed. A. most enjoyable dance, the music for which was provided by Bryson's orchestra, concluded a very enjoyable evening. Musical ifemn were contributed by Meesrs Kinvi,™ and Gibson. PAPANUI V. UARFIELD. Three rinks from the I'upanui Club visited Darfield on Saturday. Darfiald won by two frames to one.
