Change of name that brings a fortune to a young member of the British House of Commons was announced in a recent issue of the London "Gazette." He is Mr J. Rutherford Chalmers, the Conservative representative for Edmonton, who was left the bulk of the £528,000 estate of his great-uncle, the late Sir John Rutherford, Bart, the Blackburn •brewer and racehorse owner, on condition that he changed his name to Rutherford. The announcement in the London "Gazette" stated that the Kins had granted Mr Chalmers his Royal license and authority "that he may take and henceforth use the surname of Rutherford in lieu of his own surname, and bear the arms of Rutherford only, and that such surname and arms may in like manner be taken, borne, and used by his issue." Mr Chalmers, who is aj barrister, is not married. i
