ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE.

_ WORK OF THE WEEK. The SI., .lolin Free Ambulance responded to 83 calls for the week, and after first-aid by members of the Brigade, all but 13 were given transport. The greatest • number of calls received on any day was 15, on Monday and Thursday, equal. Out of City calls were attended to from Annat, Magdala, Sumner, Templeton, Sockbura, Hornby, and Islington. Ambulance Divisions. Members of the Linwood Hover Scouts Diviskut met as usual at "Wbare Kura," 24 St. Heliers street, on Saturday evening. Mr J. E. Stokes, acting-superintendent, was in charge, aiid there were I'2 members' present. After the inspection a lecture was given by Dr. jr. J. JJorric, Assistant Commissioner, on "The Signs, Symptoms, and Treatment of Poisons." At the conclusion of the lecture drill was carried out under the supervision ot divisional officers. Public duties were arranged for February H> 12, and 13 at the Wigram Aerodrome, Sockburn. * » « The St. Matthew's Ambulance Division held their weekly parade on Monday evening at the club rooms, Barbadoes street. There iviis a good attendance of members, and Mr S. A. Jones, acting superintendent, was in charge of the parade. The work ol the evening was devoted to general first-aid practice, the division working in squads. Before dismissal members were reminded that the divisional surgeon. Dr. J. H. Fahey, would be in attendance next Monday evening, and all were asked to attend. # * * Members of the New Brighton Division met on Monday evening at the Scout House, Rawhiti Domain. Twelve members paraded under Superintendent 1\ Munhart, and after the roll call the division was inspected by the following corps officers: Mrs A. E Fricker and Messrs J. Dickson and F. J Ashwortli. Mr E. H. Marriner, a member of the St. John Ambulance Association, was also present at the inspection. Practical first-aid work was carried out under the supervision of Mr Dickson, and at the close ol the parade he congratulated the superintendent on the work of his division. Mrs Fricker and Mr Asbworth also save a few words of encouragement to the members, and at the conclusion Mr Marriner spoke of the bazaar, which is to be held in March next, to raise funds for helping to furnish the new ambulance station in Peterborough street. Mr Marriner asked that the division would do its utmost to make the bazaar a success.

The Christchurch Division 1 met at the 'Brigade rooms, on Wednesday evening, when 14 members paraded under Act-ing-superintendent W. Palmer. A message conveying New Year greetings from Dr. J. Eestall Thomas, chairman of the Association, was read to. members. Public duties were then arranged in connexion with the visit of the Southern Cross and on the St. John Free Ambulance. Congratulations 'were extended to Mr P. A. Wentwortb, on his appointment to First Officer of the Division. The Division Surgeon, Dr, H. Nursing Divisions, Nursing sisters, from the various Divisions, attended on public duty at the King Edward Barracks, during the three days of the Floral Pageant. Two nursing sisters were on duty in the afternoons and two in the evenings. A New Division. The formation of new nursing division took place on, Monday evening, ut the Scout Souse, Rawhiti Domain, N'ew Brighton, Mrs A. E. Frickcr, lady corps superintendent took charge, there beig an attendance of about 12 riow members. Mrs Robertson, lady ambulance officer, was appointed to act as lady superintendent of the new Division, and on taking over the parade from Mrs Eriekor, put members through several first aid tests. The now Division will continue to parade on Monday evenings, and will shortly commence a home nursing class.
