CHRISTMAS TREE PARTY. The large infants' room at the Lytj telton District High School was transformed yesterday afternoon with Christmas decorations on tho occasion of the annual Christmas tree party for the children of the infants' department. At one end stood a large Christmas tree laden with gifts, and on the walls and blackboards were displayed sketches and coloured drawings suitable to tho occasion. There was a large attendance of mothers and younger children. Tho pupils gave several songs and recitations which were really pleasing, and then tho gifts were distributed by Father Christmas. Afterwards the mothers were entertained at afternoon tea by the teachers. Bowling. The annual match between East and West Lvttclton will be played on the Lyttelton Bowling Club's greeD on Saturday afternoon, commencing at 2 o'clock. The teams are as follows: — West Lyttelton—J. T. C. Taylor, A. White-Par-sons. C. E. Brown, J. Soutar. Personal. The teaching staff of tho Lyttelton District High School assembled yesterday to honour Miss L. E. Bussell, infant mistress, who has been appointed infant mistress at the Opawa School, and Miss G. Shepheard, who has been promoted to a special position at the West Christchurch District High School. On behalf of the teachers, the headmaster, Mr A. F. Barrell, presented Miss Bussell with a crystal glass and book, and Miss Shepheard with a toilet set. In the infants' school later Miss Bussell was presented with a bouquet and cup and saucer, the gifts of the little ones. The presentations we're mado by Barry Taylor and Dot Ilautana, both of whom made very pleasing little speeches. Sunday School Concert. Holy Trinity Schoolroom was crowded last evening wllen the annual breakup concert of the Sunday School was held. The Bev. E. Hanna presided. Partsongs and carols were sung by the children, and folk-dances were given by pupils of Standard V. of the Lyttelton 1 District High School. Songs were given by Shirley Bisman, Dorothy Bartlett. Gwenda Sutton, Joan Bartlett, No! a Winstanley, June Lester, Ethel Ilemslcy, Peggy Duckworth; recitations by Ida Childs, Elsie McCormick, Betty Agar, Nancy Greenaway, Ethel HemsIcy, Una Davies, Noeline Bartlett, Muriel Bisman, Bessie Eadcliffe, Arthur Childs, Douglas Collett, Charlie Boyd, Doris McCormick, Laurel Sowden, Natalie Cowan, Charlie Barnes, David Lublow, Eay Sutton, Sydney Canning, Ivy Canning; piano solos by' Mary Wilson, Joan Phillips, and Doris Williams. Result of Baffle.
