The world's champion broadsider, Eric Langton, aged 25, of England, received slight concussion when the front tyre of his machine burst during an exhibition ride at tho opening of the "Western Springs Speedway last evening. Langton was admitted to the Auckland Hospital and his condition to-day is not serious. The crash occurred prior to the commencement of the racing, when tho four Englishmen, Langton, "Tiger" Stevenson, Eric Gregory, and W. Phillips, were engaged in an exhibition ride. Kenneth Turner, aged 16, died in hospital as the result of injuries suffered in a motor accident at 11.30 p.m. last night. Athol Pooley, aged seven, who went bathing with two companions after leaving school yesterday, was drowned in a pool near where the Wainui creek joins Raglan harbour. The boy became separated fom his companions, who ran for assistance. A Maori working ncarbv swam out and recovered the bodv. Artificial respiration was unsuccessful. The boy was the third son of Mr James Pooley, Raglan.
