Clark, of Ashburton, , reports that his smooth Foss Terrier bitch Pacific Mintie. has whelped a fine litter of six puppies,, three by Mrs A. B. Talbot's Australian-bred dog ch. Sandgrit. Bred as they are, Jhese youngsters should . be prominent when they make their appearance on'a show bench.

Mrs A. Smith Morton, of Oamaru, has secured the pleasing young Highland White Terrier Selwyn Gay Lady, from its breeder, Mr G. S. McKay, of Spreydon. The Field Trial Committee of the Canterbury Kennel Club met onThursday evening, when Mr John Montgomery occupied the chair. Ar-. rangenients for the annual contest for the Boon Cup, to be held on Saturday, September 17th, were completed;. The trial will commence at 1.30 p.in.,. and will take place on the property ot Mr Yarr, on the banks of the No. 2 Selwyn, which is. arrived at by following the road to the Selwyn- Hluts through Sprjngston South as for &b Mcßcan's corner, approximately one mile and a half on the i town side of the huts. At this corner a sign post will be erected giving directions to the trial site about 1 one mile distant. It will be a retrieving test through water and on land, and up to-date has bqen the most spectacular of the various trials held. Most of the prominent field trial performers will be | competing, and some very interesting work should-be witnessed. The-winner of the trial will receive the. Boon Cup, while Mr John Montgomery has given a special prize for the best performance by a novice handier and dog, , neither of whom has previously won a j first prize. _ J The judge will bo Mr Ab. Her' Copia of Vindabona, dam of Rinty-and Mistral,- defeated sopae good ones in tbe open bitch class. Buddogs had excellent entries,. and at this show, Miss K. Davis's dog Gane secured the 'final two points to complete his when he Won .the open dog class. He is a> brindle by 'Armadale . Tony ex Maori liass,: and; started hiß' ring career at the Canterbury Show before last, after which he was successful «t Nelson, Blenheim, Ashburton, Greymouth, and Oamaru. A very stylish bitch puppy was exhibted by Mr F. Houselandei* in Rosemoyne Repartee.
