OBITUARY.
♦-—•. •. MR A, J. CLELAND. ■The death has occurred of Mr Andrew J. Cleland, a well-known member of an old South Canterbury family. Mr Cleland's parents took up land in the Suthorlands district and Mr Andrew Cleland wag born at their home, "Loudoun" in 1885. On Iris father's retirement he settled on part of the property and was married to Miss Margaret Shepherd, Mr Cleland was a member of the Totara Valley School Committee for 21 years, and was chairman for the past 12 years. He took a keen interest in farming matters and during the last 10 years he was secretary of the Pleasant Point branch of the Farmers' Union.
