RECTOR OF STIFFKEY.
CITIZENS RESENT BARREL EXHIBITION. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION— B» ELECTRIC TELZaBAPH— COFTSIOHT.) (Received September Bth, 10.10 p.m.) LONDON, September 8. The summonses against the Rev. Harold F. Davidson, Rector of Stiffkey, were withdrawn on his promising not to re-enter a barrel. The Chief Constable said that if the exhibition were continued a number of townsmen threatened to Beize the barrel and dump it into the sea. Later in the day, Joe Gannon, the proprietor of the show, who was charged with creating a public nuisance, exhibited Davidson in a building. The crush was so great that the police intervened. Davidson and Gannon hastily retreated to their lodgings chased by a section of the crowd.
