The barometer had a falling tendency, the reading at 6 p.m being 30.30. ■Wellington—Yesterday was a warm spring day, the sun shining brightly throughout. The -wind was north. Dunedin —Dull and overcast conditions prevailed yesterday morning and wera followed by light intermittent rain in the afternoon. The atmosphere was warm and pleasant, the maximum temperature being 01 degrees. The barometer rose during the day to 80.23. Forecast. General Situation—The present anti-cyclone is passing eastwards and a slight low pressure wave has been crossing southern New Zealand to-day in the path of an intense anticyclone, centred over Tasmania.
Winds—Southerly in the far south, elsewhere northerly at first but southerlies soon, becoming general, and strong in places. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough in Foveaux Strait, elsewhere moderate, but rising. Kastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to strong southerly winds and rough seas. Weather—Mainly fair at first, but scattered rain in Westland and Otago, showery conditions becoming fairly widespread during to-night or to-morrow, when a cold southerly change is due.
