NORTH BEACH.
Tlie girls' basketball team from the Nor til Beach School has won the >5 grade competition. The final was played against Papanui, and proved a very exciting game. At an advanced stage in the game the score was i'our all, bit the North Beacli girls notched two goals in succession and won the shield. The high standard of play reflects great credit on their ooach, Mrs Alford, a member of the school stair. Organised bv the Social Committee, ■of the North Beach Progress League and Beautifying Association, a successful social evening was held in n Peace Memorial Hall on luesday eveninc Those in attendance spent the early part of the Evening in a flag five hundred competition, the winners being Mrs Smith and MesSis G. Toon and T. Quaid. Music for dancing was supplied by Miss Maisie Ot ey. Mr L. Moor© was M.C.
