The thin white line under the chin is causing furrows in the brows of the London Metropolitan Police. The Commissioner has issued an order that (bo practice of wearing chin-straps tucked inside their helmets must"eea3e. Mr Jack Hayes, the former Labour M.P and police sergeant, discussing the matter in the "Police Beview," says the line might disqualify a uniformed man from taking plain clothes duty.
