CHAMPIONSHIPS AT MT. COOK. Two important ski-ing championship meetings will be held at the Hermitage Mt. Cook, at the end of the present month, the first, the South Island luter-club meeting, to bo held on August 26th and u7th, and the second, the Aorangi Championship meeting (under the auspices oi: the Aorangi and Tasinan riki Clubs), on August 29th, 80th, and 3lßt. The meetings, the official programme for which has just been issued, are expected to attract the greatest interest, and promise to offer a fine climax to what has already proved a successful ski-ing season. Three trophies—the Aorangi Open, Aorangi Ladies', and the lnter-club Cups—will be competed for at the championship meeting, which will be given an international flavour in view of the presenoe of T. Mitchell's Australian team. A special face is being arranged between Australian and New Zealand teams. The Aorangi meeting provides for bpjen cross-country, ladies' three-mile cross-country, open downhill (down Ball Glacier), ladies' downhill, (600 feet), and open and ladies* slaloms in the championship class, and novices and beginners. There are 17 events on the programme, which also includes a ski jump. The South Island inter-club meeting provides for men's, ladies', and open events. These will include a downhill race and two slaloms in each class, a langlauf, a ski jump, and a relay. The Furkert Chip will be competed for at this meeting.
