THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.

His Excellency the Govornor-Gencral, Lord Bledisloe, will pay a visit to St. Andrew's College at 11 o'clock this morning. The Vice-Regal party will be met at the gates by the school drum and fifo band and played to the college, where they will be received by the Board of Governors and the Moderator of the Christchurch Presbvtery (the Rev. J. A. Allan). In the aftornoon their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Bledisloe, with his Excellency's party, will travel out to Tai Tapu, where his Excellency will perform the opening ceremony of the now library, which has been presonted to the district by the Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C. Tho speakers will include Sir Heaton Rhodes, Mr H. Paterson (chairman of tho Halswell Countv Council), Mr H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., and Mr J. G-ilmour (chairman of tho Tai Tapu Library Committee). Tho ceremony is fixed for 3 p.m. Their Excellencies will be present this evening at a social gathering which the Ladies' Auxiliary of the St. John Ambulance Association is holding in tho .Tollicoe Hall, in aid of the Mayor's Relief of Distress Fund. Tho evening will take tho form of a conversazione while their Excellencies are present, and after their retirement there will be dancing. Yesterday their Excellencies visited the loan exhibition of antiques in the Art Gallery in l>urham street, and also tho McDougall Art Gallery. His Excellency addressed the Canterbury branch of tho Royal Empire Society at a luncheon, and her Excellency paid a visit to the Y.W.O.A. buildings. In tho evening his Excellency was present at a lecture arranged by the Canterbury Officers' Club. In the afternoon he went for a drive on tho Cashmere Hills, visiting the Sign of tho TaTcahe.
