PIONEER SPORTS CLUB. FIXTUKKS. August Jotli— Meeting of General Committee., August -1st —.Impromptu social run. August. ilyth—Meeting of Motor Cum- '" mittoe. NOTES. The Programme Committee of tlio Pioneer Sports Club will meet next week to dr;iw up Iho programme for the lirst halt' of the season, which will then be submitted to the. Motor Committee nt its meeting on August LT.tli. On August -Ist :ui impromptu social run will bo made to Porter's Pass. and those taking part are asked to meet at iJic club house at 9.30 a.m. It is more than likely that the Pioneer Sports (Jlub will this season hold several of its sporting competitions, including the T.T. races, on the Show Grounds, if these are available, and in view of the fact that the Motor Committee has several light car owners amongst its numbers, there is overy reason to believe that the light cars will take a prominent part in the various competitions. Provided the sporting-competitions to be staged at the Show Grounds are made attractive they would soon become self-supporting, and a greater impetus given to this class of sport. It is also expected that an effort. will be made early in the season to hold another track meeting at JJangiora. That held there last November proved quite good from a sporting point of view, and if a date could be obtained when there arc no outstanding counter-attractions, there is no reason to believe that the meeting would not; prove equally successful from a financial point of view also. No loss was sustained from the last; meeting held there, despite a strong local attraction being met with. Provided the Sew Brighton trotting grounds are available, it is likely that the club will hold a track meeting there during the first half-year of tlie season, and a second meeting about February, at which probably one of the New Zealand championships will be run. This scusou the Pioneer Sports Club has, under way a new membership campaign, and each member is being asked to endeavour to obtain at least one new member during the season. The progress of the campaign is to be posted in llio club rooms each week, and it ia expected as a result to add another ,">OO to the membership roll.
