NORTH BEACH PROGRESS LEAGUE.
The monthly meeting of the North Beach Progress League and Beautifying Association was held in the Momorial Hall, North Beach, Mr A. Poverell (president) presiding. The town clerk wrote stating that the council had agreed to the league's request that the piece of land formerly known as the Osborne terrace reserve should in future be named the North Beach Park. A letter from the council stated that it had considered a suggestion of the league that small shelter cross fences be built along the esplanade, and had decided to erect two such fences as an experiment. Mr S. W. Brown wrote resigning his position ns treasurer, of the league. The resignation was accepted with regret, the secretary being instructed to write expressing the Ir.'igue's appreciation of the work done by Mr Brown. Mr Skelton was appointed treasurer. It was decided to open on account in the Post Office Savings Bank. Mr L. R. Moore drew attention to the desirability of an entrance to Thompson's Park from Bowhill road. He suggested that an entrance be made through the laud held by the council opposite Tonka street. On the motion of Mr F. J. Laurence Scott it was decided to appoint Messrs T. Thompson, R. D. Martin, and L. R. Moore a sub-com-mittee to go into the matter and report to the next meeting of the league. Eight new members were elected, making the total membership 126. The Chrißtehurch Trnmway Board wrote stating that in accordance witli the request of the league, the last trolley-bus to North Beach would in future go through to North Beach irrespective erf the number of passengers, and that the r.ext issue of printed tinio-tablcs would *V><v.v the change.
