The inter-State hockey carnival was continued at the University oval to-day in beautiful weather. New Zealand defeated Sou,th Australia by 13 goals to 0. South Australia, playing New Zealand for the first time in the history of the game, were outclassed. The New Zealand team gave a great forward display and showed a very resolute defence. Bay, Turbitt, and Andrews revelled in goal-hitting. Reid, a New Zealand forward, retired, requiring two stitches over his left eye. Wellhourne replaced him, and excelled himself on tho hard ground. Munro, the captain, played full-back, in the second half. Spiers, the crack hack, vmprecedentedly played at centre half, hoping to score. Ewan n.nd Bollard, playing at half-back, scored, indicating the weak defence. The South Australian forwards were also inexperienced. The game was not treated very seriously in the second half. The scorers for New Zealand were: Bay (five), Turbitt (three), Andrews (two), Jvcid (one), Ewan (one), and Bollard (one). A hard- game is expected to-morrow for tho New Zealanders against Western Australia. • The Test team will' be'announced on Friday, and the game will he broadcasted on Saturday .by 2FC, at 3.40 p.m. New South Wales defeated Victoria by 3 goals to 1, after a hard and fast game. CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Uanageroent Committee of t'ae Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening, Jlr 11. W. Rogers presiding. The following members were' also present:—Messrs L. P. X. Ward. "\V. 11. Down, J. L. Squire, 11. Snook, I. Davey, H. V 7. Forsyth, F. Fullwood, L. Sutherland, R. Wear, A. li. Graham, and G. Graham. The North Otajo Association wrote accepting August 27th as a suitable date for a match between .North Otago and a Canterbury colts' team. . The Otago Association wrote regretting that it would be unable to send secondary and primary schools' teams to Christcburch this season, but accepting August 27th as the date suitable for a match against Canterbury at Dunedin. The following team was selected to represent Canterbury against Otago, at Dunedin, on August 27th:—T. Yuill, E. Dash. H. W. Forsyth, V. Wells, W. Cole. C. Hore, J. Langridge, R. Busbridge, R. Moir, B. Duffield, and It. Davies. Emergency, J. Mounsey. ' The ■ Mid-Canterbury Association asked for s number of teams to be sent to Ashburton en August 27th. and it was decided to send junior and third grade teams, and a primary schools' team as requested. „ The Canterbury Rugby League forwarded two invitations to attend the Test match, Jfew Zealand r. England, on Saturday next. The' Harewood Club wrote asking that matches bo postponed on Saturday nest on account of the Rugby and - League football matches. The Competitions Committee reported that sit would be necessary to play the third " and fourth grade fixtures, and it was decided to postpone the- senior match only, and to play all other grade matches and primary schools' that were postponed on Saturday last. The New Zealand Association advised that the hockey Test match, New Zealand v. Australia, to. be played in Sydney on Saturday next, would be broadcasted from 2FC Sydney, commencing at 3.40 p.m., Australian time. WELLINGTON BEATEN. (FJUC3S ASSOCIATION ULS4IAK } DANNEVIRKE, August 10. The Wellington touring, hockey team was defeated by Dannevirke by two goals to one in a hard and evenly-contested game. J. Smith scored for Dannevirke in the first spell and G. Robinson in the second*. Wellington's goal was notched by Worsfold just before time. NELSON (3) T. CANTERBURY (1). XELBON, August 10. In the representative hoekey match, played to-day in fine weather, Nelson beat Canterbury by three goals to one. The game was fast and open in the first half, when all the scoring was done. The Nelson backs played brilliantly, allowing the forwards to do most of the attacking. Clever Canterbury movements were broken up by the opposing halves. For Canterbury Edginton and Forman were the best forwards and Meynell the beat back. For Nelson, Harford and Webster shone in the forward line. All the backs were steady, but Gibbs and O'Callaghan were especially prominent. For Nelson, Harford (2) and Webster" scored, and for Canterbury Edginton.
