DANCE AND SKATING PARTY.

After the general meeting of the Students'/ Association last night the Social Committee arranged a very pleasant and infoi mal dance, held in the Students' Union Building, followed bv a skating party, which commenced at 10.30 p.m. Well over sixty students were present, and an enjoyable time was had by all. | KAIAPOI. A by-election held yesterday ip Kaiapoi to fill the vacancy on the Kaiapoi Borough Council caused by the resignation of A. S. Palmer resulted as follows:—Albert Linklater 94, Edward Erickson 76, informal 1. OURUHIA. The spinsters of Ouruhia held a leap year franchise dance in the Ouruhia School. Miss Jean Spender acted as doorkeeper, and Miss Rona McMillan was M.C. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Nancy e St-eere and ivir Alec McMillan, and a lucky spot by Miss Edna Cade and Mr Alec McMillan. Mr F. Miller supplied the danc© music. In the card room the best scorers for the evening were Miss IS. Clclland and Mr L. Cade. GREENPARK. At tlve Hall Committee's weekly social the prize-winners were Mrs W. 13. Matthews, Miss D. Duff (Springston South) Mr W B. Matthews, and Mr E. Stalker. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs Marks and Mr Matthews. The dance music was supplied by Mrs Clark; the M.C. being Mr Matthews. Mr B. P. Moodic is relieving at the Green park School. SOUTH MALVERN. The Glentunnel women's hockey team journeyed to Greendalo on Saturday, and were defeated by two goals to one. Mr Revellev was the referee. Miss K. Harwood (Papanui) has been visiting friends in Coalgate. M iss M. Ball (Kaiapoi) has been visiting friends in Glentunnel. Miss Coburr. (Christchurch), .who has been visiting relatives in Glentunnel, is paying a short visit to relatives in Asfiburton.
