Accused was remanded in custody till Accused was remanded in custody to appear at Lyttelton to-morrow. FALSE PRETENCE CHARGE. A bookbinder, aged 22, whose name* was ordered to be suppressed, was charged with obtaining: 'by means of a certain false pretence, a cake, valued at Is 34, snd'ihe sunt of £4 18s 9d in" money, from George Gibson. Accused was ordered to be remanded in custody until August 16th, and to bo kept under observation until that time, CHARGE DISMISSED, A charge of the theft of a pair of shoes, ▼alued at £1 15s, the property of John Robert Clarkeon, was made against Clarence Victor Kelson, aged 25, a plasterer. Afte* hearing evidence, the Magistrate dismissed the charge, saying that he was satisfied there was no intention of theft. BREAKING AND ENTERING. Alfred Warner, a welder, 17 years of age, and Percy William Matthews, a canvasser, 18 years of age, were charged with breaking and entering, on July 30thj the shop of John Thomas Cooper, and committing theft therein. They pleaded guilty, and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail at £2OO, with two sureties of £IOO each, was renewed in each case. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.JI.) CLAIM FOR REFUND OF PURCHASE. Q. A. Wright, of Annat, farmer, claimed from Vangelo Lurajud, of Timaru, tho sum of £250, beiqjg a refund of the purchase price of a motor-car purported to have been sold by the defendant to the plaintiff in Christchurch in 1931, and for which sum the consideration had wholly failed. _ Judgment was given for the plaintiff for the amount claimed with costs.
