SANDERS CUP. There is some speculation in the various sailing clubs at present as to what new 14-foot Jellicoe class sailing boats will appear during the coming season as candidates for the honour of defending the Sanders Cup for Canterbury. It is reported that Mr Fred. Dobbic, builder of Avenger and Colleen, already has a- boat on the stocks for Mr T. Hobbs, tho secretary of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor-Boat Club. Another Lyttelton resident has a boat building for the trials, so that there will be no la # ck of contestants for representative honours. Relief of Distress. The Lyttelton Borough Council ia providing work for approximately 170 men under the unemployment relief scheme. The Lyttelton Relief Committee has under its care about 500 persons, including families of those other than registered unemployed. The Mayor (Mi F. E. Sutton) stated yesterday that the Pound Scheme had been put into operation again, and the committee would bo pleased to receive gifts at either the Borough Council office or at the committee's room at the Building Society's building in Canterbury street. This week the distribution of rations will take place on Thursday instead of on Friday. Personal. Miss Freda Foster is spending a holiday at Palmerston North.
