10 THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—l feel quite confident that the people who subscribed the money for the above would gladly let the committee disburse it to the poor and needy returned soldiers who fought for us all. These men went away with a promise that they would be well provided for when they returned; but when you see so many returned soldiers unemployed and many disabled and on the starvation line or living on charity, I think it is time for a more able pen to take this matter up before it is, too late. What more do we want to commemorate the war than the Bridge of Remembrance? When that money was subscribed we did not know that the returned men would be in the plight they are iu at the present. 1 have had many sad cases como before me of late- trying their best to obtain work, which is not forthcoming. I think it would be a great shame, in fact an ungrateful act, on our j>ort to put up a heap of stone when we have these men going hungry.—Yours, etc., A. W. BUXTON. August Sth, 1932. . I
