CITY AND COUNTRY.
SYMPATHY ENGENDERED BY WINTER SHOW, Saying that there had been too much antagonism in the past between town and country, and that tho Winter Show, organised by representatives of both these sections of the community would do much to reconcile many or their differences, the Mayor (Mr I>. G. Sullivan, M.P.) congratulated the A. and P. Association and the Manufacturers' Association on their joint effort, at the opening of the show on Saturday night. "An exhibition of this kind, organised under the joint patronage ct country and City people, is the outcome of a happy thought," said Mr Sullivan. "The show witt certainly bring about a better understanding between town and country, and each section will be able to recognise ana appreciate the difficulties under which tho other is working. Tho joint effort must make for the prosperity of t» country. What is needed to-day -s a stimulation of trade, and the show will be valuable in providing such a stimulus." , , . . a The Minister for Industries and Commerce (the Hon. S. Masters, M.L.C.). who officially opened the show), also emphasised this aspect of the value of the show, together with some of the other speakers.
