REDUCTION IN COST. IMMEDIATE OPERATION. . The Hon. R. Masters, Minister for Education, who arrived in Christchurch an Saturday morning, announced that he had concluded negotiations with the publishers of the primary school books used throughout the Dominion, which would have the effect of bnngiug uoout an immediate reduction ot *£l\ per cent, in the present retail prices paid by parents for the purchase of school hooKS for their children. The Minister made it clear that the new arrangement is not to apply to the Beacon Readers, which are an English production, but it will embrace the following books, all of which are published in New Zealand:—Tiny Tots' primers, Progressive primers, and the English, arithmetic, history and geography oooks for Standards I. to VI.
