Painfall to date .. .. 9.90 in 11.23 in Auckland—A very light variable wind and t:ne, sunny weather prevailed yesterday. The barometer continued to rise, and registered 23.90 last evening. Wellington—Bright sunshine prevailed for the major part of yesterday, the weather bceontingr overcast, with drizzling rain, late in the afternoon. The wind was from the south. Dunedin —The weather took a turn for the better yesterday, and was pleasantly fine, witfc bright sunshine during the afternoon. There wm a light breeze from the northeast. The barometer had a falling tendency. Forecast. General Situation—The recent depression faaa passed away eastwards, and an anti cyclone ia advancing over the Tasman Sea tfth its centre to the north. A depression is now moving ou to south-eastern Australia.
Winds —Moderate to fresh southerly north of Westport and Kaikoura, elsewhere vanable winds tending to westerly and later porth-wcsterly in and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Considerable southerly swell north of Farewell Spit and Akaroa "otherwise smooth to moderate; Eastern Tasman Sea —Moderate south to west •winds.and ipoderate seas. _ Weather—Still some passing showers botweeu East Cape and Kaikoura, but. improving and otherwise fair to fine; cold tonight, with many frosts.
