HEATHCOTE NEWS.
LITERARY SOCIETY. The weekly meeting of the Heatheote Valley Literary arid Fellowship Society was held in the Methodist Schoolroom. The evening was devoted to a debate between the members of the Kedclift's Societv and the local society, .on the subject, "That Heredity lias a greater effect on Character than Environment." Messrs A. -Ilolden. N. Eobinson, and Mrs Kirkpa trick (affirmative) represented Redcliffs and Messrs F. A. Silcoek, R. W. Connolly, and Mrs Harvey, the Heatheote Society. The. judge, Mr H. W. Armitage, of Christchurch, gave his decision, in favour of Hio Heatheote team.
