OBITUARY.
MR HARRY WILLIS
The death occurred on Thursday o Mr Harry Willis for a great many years a prominent figure in the iron trade in New Zealand, and also a memlier of the executive and an honorary lite member of the ' < -' aatc . l '^ facturers' Association, with a of service over a penod of vcars. He was the Sunder ot the Christchurch engineering farm ot xt. Willis and Company. . , 0G Mr Willis was born vears aco, and came to Isew at an -urly age. Apprenticed to the jrun trade, he served his time m . foundrv of Andersons, Ltd., m Christchurch. He later joined the staff of A. and T. Burt, Ltd., with whom ho served some time before returning to Anderson's, to take oiE tho foundrv. He set up in business on Ins own account some years ago. A keen volunteer, Mr Willis wn S a member of various corps from 1880 to 191" He was a member of tno Oivy Guards, "B" Battery, and the Taranafcl Rifles. He was a. crack rifle shot and captained tho Taranaki team, which in its time won nearly all the team prizes at the Zealand championship meeting. He was also a Master of tho Royal Scottish Lodge. As member of - tbc Cnntcrmirv Manufacturers' Association, Mr Willi? had a very long service record. At the time of his death lie was the oldest member on the executive. Mr ill is was elected an honorary life member. He attended a great many animal- Dominion- conferences, and was looked upon as one of tho foremost executive members in the association. Another of Mr Willis' activities was liis teaching iron-working to the evening classes at the Technical College. Mr Willis leaves a widow, two daughters, Misses B. I». and R. C. Willis, and two sons, Messrs H. Francis Willis (Christchurch) and P. Garnett Willis (Invercargill).
