ACCIDENTS.
* ENGINE-DRIVER KILLED. (PRE 8 3 ASSOCIATION TZLXGBAX.) STRATFORD, June 2. A tragedy occurred on the Whangamomona line this morning, when the driver of a mixed train to Stratford, James Foreman, was killed. The train was ascending a gradient on the Whangamomona saddle when the fireman, Charles Parker, who was tending the fire, felt a bump. He turned to draw the driver's attention, but found that Foreman was missing. He stopped the train and the body was found under the seventh waggon, terribly mutilated. Foreman, who was thirty-eight years of age, leaves & widow and two children. SEVERE ELECTRIC SHOCK. ! (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) j NELSON, June 2. While engaged painting a residence yesterday at Brightwater, Gus Brown, aged 20, walked backwards on the verandah into an electric wire. He was rendered unconscious by the shock, and has not regained consciousness.
