CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. REMITS FOR DOMINION CONFERENCE. The Canterbury Fruitgrowers' Association mot last night, Mr E. Freeman presiding over a large attendance. The following remits were adopted for submission to the Dominion conference of the Fruitgrowers' Federation: — "That the selection of directors be by postal vote." (Mr F. W. Cone.) "That in view of the low prices received by growers all costs be considered and reduced wherever possible." (Mr W. E. Davidson.) Mr Davidson, in reply to questions, said that his idea was that costs of everything connected with the industry should be reduced. . as to the date of conference, the Federation revert to iTuly." (Mr E. Freeman.) "That the sides of export cases be increased in thickness." (Mr E. Freeman.) ' Replying to'Mr Freeman, Mr B. 6. Goodwin (orchard instructor) said* that he would recommend 3-16th'of an inch in respect of pinus insignia cases. - Sizes of Oases. Mr F. W. Sisson gave the following particulars of the sizes of cases for next fruit season for local and export use:— The dimensions are of inside measurements:— Apples: 10* x .11J x 18, approximate thickness; ends f, sides 5-16ths, tops, and bottoms; 5J x lliix IS; fin, 5-16 th, 5-16 th; 7£ x 7f ,x 18; Jin, 5-16 th, 5-16 th. Pears: 8i x ll* x 18; fin, 5-16 th, iin; 4} x 11| x, 18; f in, 5-16 th, 5-16 th, 21 to 3} x llf x 18; jin, 546 th, 5-16 th; 7 x 7 x 18; fin, 5-16tb, 5-16 th. Citrus: 10$ x 11* x 18; fin, 5-ltith, iin; 7f x*7f x 18; fin, 5-16 th, 5-16 th. Apricots, Peaches, and Nectarines: 5i x Hi x 18; fin, 8-16 th, 5-16 th; 2J to 3J x 11* x 18; fin, 5-16 th, 5-16 th, 2 x 7 x 18; fin, 5-16 th, 5-18 th. Plums: 5J x 11J x 18; fin, 5-16 th, 5-16tb; 7 x 7 x 18; fin, 5.16 th, 5-16tb. Cherries: 4J x 11* x 18; fin, 5-16 th, k 5-16tb; 3} x 11* x 14; iin, iin; 5 * 10 x U; iia, jfciß, iia.
