A poignaut tragedy occurred in a London hospital. Elizabeth Lloyd, aged 36 years, wife of a South Wales miner, suffered a disfiguring facial disease and. as a last resort, was sent to Sir Harold Gillies (formerly of Dunedin), who worked six months to restore her features. Ho was surprisingly successful. When tho bandages were removed medical students Hocked to the ward to admire tho operation. Her husband duly arrived and stayed at Hammersmith Hospital for ten hours, chatting continuously and giving his wife news of their 10-ycar-old boy. They apparcntlj' wore very happy. He was educated at AVanganui College, Cambridge, and St. Bartholomew's Hospital. For some timo he was chief plastic surgeon at the Ministry for Pensions Hospital, Koehampton, and also foi\ tho Eoyal Air Force at St. Andrew's Hospital. Moro recently he held tho position of plastic surgeon, Queen's Hospital, for facial injuries, at Sidcup, Kent. Ho rowed for Cambridge in 1904; was school captain of the Cricket XI., and played golf for Cambridge in 1903, 1904, and 1905; also for England against Scotland at golf in 1908, 1925, and 1926.]
