SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Miss Bosamond Eolleston (Le Cren's terrace) Trill leave to-day for Woodbury. Miss Joyce Gilmour (Invercargill) left yesterday for the south, after a visit to Mrs W. D. Campbell (Wai-iti road). Miss Olive Lyon is visiting Hawke's Bay, where she is the guest of Miss Beatrix Loughnan (Otane). Miss Gwen Baxter (Christchurch) arrived yesterday to play in the golf tournament, opening to-morrow. Miss Joan Hargreaves (Kakahu) has returned froh a visit to Mrs George Pinckney ("Glenaray")Mr and Mrs John Barker (Four Peaks) will leave to-day for the North Island, for the Barker —Mostyn-Jones wedding. Miss Olive Hassell ("Carshalton," North street) left yesterday to stay with her sister, Mrs Barrie Martin (Wellington). Mrs Ralph BToldgate (Timaru) is at present visiting Christchurch, and is the guest of Mrs D. B. Halliday (Onslow street).
Miss Margery Myers (London), -who spent the week-end with Mrs W. Fea (Elizabeth street), has left to stay with Miss D. Allen (Christehurch). Mrs Eonald Orbell (Oamaru) arrived yesterday to stay with Mrs R. H. Rhodes ("Carne," Sealy street) for the South Canterbury ladies' golf championship. Mrs J. C. Guinness ("Farmleigh," Ealing), is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs Edgar Jones ("Otiritiri"). Miss Patricia Ronalds and Miss Betty Friberg (Leeston), who were the guests of Miss Mary Thorpe (Otipua), left yesterday for the north, accompanied by Miss Thorpe. Mr and Mrs J. M. Barker ("Waihi," Woodbury) and Mr and Mrs Norman Hope (The Grampians) left yesterday for Te Kuiti for the Barker —MostynJoneß wedding, which takes place on* Thursday. MOTHERS' UNION. WAINUI BRANCH. At the annual meeting of the Wainui branch of the Mothers' Union, held at the home of Mrs Noonan, Mrs DWright presided over a good attendance. The following officers were elected: —Presiding and enrolling member, Mrs Hayward; secretary and treasurer, Mrs Noonan. It was arranged that the next meeting should take the form of an afternoon social. An interesting article was read by Mrs L. Hooker, and afternoon tea was served by Mrs Noonan. A vote ot appreciation'was passed to the retiring officers, Mrs Wright and Mrs Hooker.
