ASHBURTON. FALL FROM HORSE. Alexander Haslett, a married man from Rakaia, was admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital yesterday suffering from concussion as the result of falling frpm a horse. His condition was reported to be satisfactory. Presbytery. The Ashburton Presbytery met yesterday, when the Moderator, the Kov. A. S. Morrison, presided. It was reported that Mr Ewen Hamilton had been appointed home missionary at Hinds'. The sub-committee, consisting of the Eevs. E. Morgan, A. D. Kirkland. and W Marshall, was appointed to consider the regulations of the Home Mission Committee in the new Book of Order and report to the next meeting. me clerk (the Rev. W. Marshall) reported that speakers had been arranged for the Sunday school teachers' conference to be held at Mayfield on June 3rd. Ihe chief speakers will be Miss I. Wilson (Ihc newly-appointed Area Youth Organiser) and Messrs Victor French and E. Buchanan. . Miss I. Wilson intimated her intention of visiting the Presbytery from May 30th to June 10th in the interest of "Sunday school teachers and Bible classes. Personal. As Mr Sydney W. Pascall, of London, president of the Rotary International, passed through Ashburton for the south yesterday, he was met and welcomed by the Mayor (Mr W. H. Woods), Crs. F. Z. D. Ferriman and F. W. Seldon, the Town Clerk (Mr W. Patterson) Mr A. A. McDonald (president of the Ashburton Chamber of Commerce), and Mr W. 11. Amos (secretary of the Mid-Cantor-bury Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union). Ashburton Unemployed. At a meeting of the Ashburton unemployed workers, held on Monday evening, it was decided to break away from the Unemployed Workers' Movement. A constitution was adopted. Tho following officers were elected: President, Mr Black; vice-president, Mr S. Hawke; secretary and organiser, Mr \V. 6. Wood; treasurer, Mr H. McNickol; committee, Messrs P. Cullen, G. A. Furby, Moore; Ashbolt, Johnson, A. Colville, and Cowles. Messrs Black and Hawke were elected to tho Mayor's Relief Committee. Longbeach Road Board. The Longbeach Road Board met yesterday. Present: Messrs J. P. McQuillan (chairman), W. J. Anderson, H. Watts, L. Maginness, and A. Moore. Mr McQuillan was re-elected chairman. "' The clerk reported that a certain amount of bridge and patching. work had been done in the area surrounding Longbeach Estate. It was decided to patch and grade a number of the roads in the district. The bank pass book showed a credit balance of £633 16s 4d. Druids' Lodge. The fortnightly meeting of the Star. of Ashburton Druids' Lodge was held on Monday evening, Bro. T. H. Pennall, A.D., presiding over a good attendance. An application for "the loan of the Lodge banner was made from the Christchurch Church Parade Committee,, together with an invitation to take part in the parade. It was agreed to lend the banner and to endeavour to get the names of those who could attend. One candidate was initiated. i. Women's Golf. METHVEN. There was an attendance of about '45 ratepayers at the Anglican Hail, Methven, on' Monday evening, when several members or the Ashburtcn Power Board who are seeking re-elec-tion addressed tlio meeting on the past work of the Board, and also their future intentions. Mr F. W. lluddcnklau (chairman or' the Mt. Hutt lload Board) presidnd. Messrs Stanley Smith, J. W. M. Dart, F. W. Watt, and E. F. Nicoil delivered short addresses. They were given an attentive hearing. Mr T. S. Harrison moved a vote of thanks the speakers and confidence in the present members of the Board. This was seconded by Mr W. C. Battson. Ihe motion was carried unanimously. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Methven Agricultural and Pastoral Association, was held on Monday evening. Mr A. F. Marr presided, and there were also present Messrs John Watson, S. Campbell, S. G. Holmes, W. S. Jones, A. Goodwin, A. Geddes, H. J. Freeman, 11. D. Millar.. F. S. McDonald, It. J. Low, W. F. Koynolds, Jas. Carr, W. 0. Lowery, G. Keliy, W. O. Spray, J. G. Ruddenklau, A. McLeod, E. A. Bland, George Callaghan, C. H. Watson, C. A. Campion, and T. S. Harrison. The secretary of the New Zealand Clydesdale Society wrote advising that tho champion medal won at the recent show with "Bingley Bloom" will be engraved and forwarded immediately. The Timaru Association wrote in reference to the Methven Association's resolution, "That entry fees for members of kindred associations granting similar privileges be charged at members' rates," had 'been discussed, and it had been decided that the time was not opportune to make the suggested alteration. The Oourtenay Association also wrote in regard to the same matter, stating that the suggestion had been discussed, and for varU ons reasons did not receive favourable consideration.

• RAKAIA. The annual meeting of the Eakaia Boy Scouts' Committee was held in the Library on Monday evening, Mr M. P. Cooke presiding over a good attendance. The report showed that the work was being successfully carried out. The thanks of the committee were duo to Messrs C. Nelson and A. W. Mills for their assistance, and to Mr G. S. Hardy for the free use of a scout-rooinn ' The scoutmaster's report showed that the Interest in the movement was being well maintained. The scouts had collected £8 7s by the sale of cones and

bottles. The balance-sheet showed a small credit balance. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing year;— President, Mr S. Wilson; group committee, Eevs. A. H. Barnett and K. A.
