FIRE BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The CliriMchurch Fin Board met last night. Present: Messrs T. SiCharters (chairman), E. H. Andrew*, C. A. Cooper, G. C. Hill, and T. H. Butterfield. It was decided to reply tot Means D. H. Brown and Son, Ltd., who asked for a reduction in fees, for upkeep of private alarm and fire appliances, (hat the charges made were the absolute minimum, and it' was regretted thai ! no reduction could be made. The Board, in other directions, had reduced costs wherever possible. The Department of Internal Affairs advised that in accordance with recent legislation the Government subsidy to the Board would .be subject >to a reduction of 10 per cent.- ■ ' ' * v The secretary (Mr C.-J.
