LADY HOUSTON'S OFFER. INCOME TAX VOLUNTARILY INCREASED. (UHU'EB TRESS ASSOCIATION— BT ILZCTiIO TEt.EGBAPH—COPT3IOHT.) (Received April 15th, 7 p.m.) LONDON, April 14. Lady Houston has written to Mr Neville Chamberlain (Chancellor of the Exchequer) offering a cheque for £200,000, instead of a cheque for £40,000 due as income tax. She proposes that the extra amount eliould £0 towards tho cost of an adequate Army, Navy, and Air Force, which Lady Houston considers requires an addition of £5,000,000 in thn coming Budget. Lady Houston adds: If nineteen others do the same, the paltry sum required to ensure national safety will be iound.
