RENT AND INTEREST.

, TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—l consider that interference l»y the Government with contracts already made, concerning rent and interest is absolutely, dishonest. We were all incensed against Germany for treating a contract as a scrap of paper, but it looks as if Now Zealand will disgrace herselfi in the same way with less cause. The Government has legitimate ways cf raising the money needed by increasing income tax or even putting a special tax on interest and rent, and the Hon. W. Downie Stewart by opposing the present proposals has shown himself worthy of his position.—Yours, etc " JUSTICE. April' Jsth, 1932.
