A woman aged 108 years who tor health and activity is said to be unsurpassed in Efurope has been discovered in a village in Portugal. She has never been ill, has never taken medicine, has all her own teeth, and can eat chestnuts, does not use glasses, but can thread a needle, fetches water from the village pump, gathers wood in the undergrowth, cooks and does housework without ever feeling tired The old lady has been married three times. Her'first husband died leaving her with 16 children. Her tiiird husband is still living, and is young enough to be her grapdson, but he often sits in a corner of the kitchen too tired to move, while his wife ot 108 moves about briskly doing the housework.
