CIVIC THEATRE.

♦ "HIS WOMAN." The, role of s swashbuckling sea captain suits Gary Cooper down to the ground, and he ' appears at his best in "His Woman," now at the Civic. But the captain has his soft side, and undertakes to care for a foundling baby left aboard his ship. He finds himself unable to part with the helpless child, but is just as incapable of looking after the baby properly. Sally Clarke (Claudette Colbert), a lady of bad reputation, represents herself to be the friendless daughter of a missionary, and secures a position as nurse to the child. Naturally the captain and nurse fall in love, although the course of their love runs _ far from smoothly, and there are dramatic moments wheD there is a threat of the revelation of Sally's real identity. But nothing can spoil such a story. Mutual love of the child has drawn the two together, and they find happiness together. There is a second feature on the programme, "Touchdown," an exciting football drama.
