CANTERBURY BRANCH. • A meeting of the Executive and Finance Committee of the Canterbury (N'.Z.) Branch of the British lied Cross Society and the Order of St. John was "held 011 "Wednesday. The financial statement and reports showed that during February ex-Ser-viec patients had received attention, and that clothing, tobacco, hospital requisites, etc., were supplied aiid other amusements arranged for. Major Barnes's report for February on his visits to two blind soldiers and to ex-Service men in the Mental Hospital and with reference to the distribution of tobacco, cigarettes, and fruit was received. . ' A circular letter was received from the president of the Cliristchurch Returned Soldiers' Association with reference to the New Zealand Sheepowners' Acknowledgment of Debt to British Seamen Fund Trustees having agreed to extend the facilities of training at Flock House to (a) the sons of deceased and disabled soldiers, (b) the sons of ex-Service men, (c) the soils of civilians, and also that the Government lias decided Jo subsidise the cost of training of the boys up to £25 per iicftd. . , • ■ Sister Christian s report 011 l'eaee Time work in the Noryi. Canterbury district during the month of February was before the meeting. The first series of lectures would be given at Waikari, Scargill, Omilii, Waipara, and Motunau, and when these districts were* finished Sister Christian would then work from Waikari, visiting Ha warden Medbury. Culverden, Rothcrliam, and Hanmer. Later Cheviot would be made a centre and. classes instructed at Domett, Parnassus, Waiau and Spotswood. At Waikari 17* members had enrolled, at Scargill 20 at Oinihi 31. at Waipara 20. and at Mntmnu 11. Arrangements had been made to give first aid and health lectures of the Scargill school children It wa a also hoped to form a Junior Rod Cross Circle there. The report was received and the • arrangements made by Sister Christian were approved.
