NAVAL BASE.
WORK AT SINGAPORE. COMPLETION EXPECTED IN 1935. (UKITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) (Received March 16th, 7 p.m.) LONDON, March 15. In the House of Commons, Captain D. Euan Wallace (Under-Secretary to the Admiralty) told an enquirer that there was £618,000 on the Naval Estimates for .work on the Singapore Naval Base. Good progress was being made on the actual work, and there was every reason to believe that it would be completed in 1935. Owing to the financial situation they had not prepared the plans for the completion of a fully up-to-date base, but tho Admiralty was giving its attention to the subject.
