POWERS OF YOGI.
NITRIC ACID SWALLOWED. DEMONSTRATION AT BOMBAY. (UNITED PUZSK ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC) TELEGEAPH—- COPVBIGHT.) CALCUTTA, March 15. Glass, china, wood, coconut shells, nails, nitric acid, and a snake's head were swallowed by L. -A. Rao, the Hindu ascetic, in a demonstration of his powers before Lord Lothian and members of the Indian Franchise Committee, and prominent British Indian citizens, at Bombay. Members of the audience stood beside Rao during the performance. They put the nnils into his mouth, and inspected the snake's l'angs before he bit' its head off. The hand of one of the guests was burned with the strong nitric acid while handling the bottle, the contents of which Rao drank.
