' • ' " " TRAMWAY BOARD'S PROjJI.idM The difficulty and expense entailed by the Tramway Board in the collection of fares which are not paid to tli3 conductors on the trams, was emphasised in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when the Board proceeded against a number of people for failing topay fares. Counsel for the Board said that he had instructions to prosecute in all cases where fares were .not paid within a reasonable time. Ie Magistrate, Mr H. P Lawry, S.M., took a serious view of the cases, an all of the defendants were convicted, most of them being fined. "The Board lias been -compelled , bring before the Court a number ot cases of persons failing to pay then tares," said counsel.
